September 1, 2026 marked the beginning of integrated KTX and SRT high-speed rail operations in South Korea. Existing SRT members must complete the unified membership migration process to retain their previous membership benefits through Korail+. However, not everyone needs to create a new account from scratch. The procedure depends on whether you already have a Korail account or were registered only with SRT. Regular train tickets can still be purchased without membership, but this should be distinguished from services that require unified membership registration.
Do Existing SRT Members Need to Register Again for Korail+?
Members who registered only with SRT must complete the unified railway membership registration process. Those who already have accounts with both Korail and SRT can use their existing Korail account to complete the unified membership migration.
The required steps depend on your existing membership status.
| Existing Membership Status | Required Action |
|---|---|
| Korail account only | Continue using your existing Korail account; automatic migration applies |
| SRT account only | Apply for unified membership migration and register for unified railway membership |
| Both Korail and SRT accounts | Complete unified membership migration to link your existing account information |
| No previous railway membership | Register as a new member through Korail+ or the Korail website |
One important point is that having accounts with both Korail and SRT does not mean your SRT travel history and coupons will automatically be linked without a separate application.
Even if you can sign in with your existing Korail account, you should check the unified membership migration procedure to link the discount coupons and travel records associated with your former SRT account.
Where and How Can SRT Members Complete the Unified Membership Migration?
Existing SRT members can apply through the unified membership migration menu in the SRT app or on the SRT website. After completing the process, they can book tickets through the Korail+ app using their unified membership account.
According to the official guidance, the procedure is as follows:
1. Open the existing SRT app or website and select the unified membership migration menu.
2. Sign in using your existing SRT membership information on the migration screen.
3. Select the option to apply for unified membership.
4. Review the mandatory consent requirements for providing personal information and any applicable optional consent items.
5. Complete the identity verification process.
6. Depending on whether you already have a Korail account, finish linking your memberships or proceed with unified railway membership registration.
Members registered with both Korail and SRT complete the migration using their existing Korail membership after the identity verification procedure.
SRT-only members must additionally register for unified railway membership. Entering an old SRT membership number alone does not complete the entire process.
SR, the South Korean operator of SRT services, explains in its integrated operations guidance that unified membership migration remains available through Korail+ or the existing SRT app after September 2026. Even if you missed the advance migration period, it is worth checking the migration menu first.
Can You Sign In to Korail+ Using Your Old SRT Membership Number?
For member bookings on integrated train services operating from September 1, you must use your unified membership number and password.
Members who previously registered with both Korail and SRT use their existing Korail membership number and password as their unified membership login credentials.
By contrast, passengers who were registered only with SRT must use the membership credentials issued after completing unified railway membership registration.
Simply having an old SRT membership number does not mean your unified membership account is ready to use.

Can You Still Buy Train Tickets Without Completing Unified Membership Migration?
Regular train tickets can be purchased as a nonmember without migrating to unified membership. However, migration is required to use membership benefits such as discount coupons and travel records.
In particular, membership requirements differ between regular ticket bookings and special holiday ticket reservations.
Regular Train Ticket Reservations
You can purchase tickets as a nonmember through Korail+ or the Korail website. However, unified membership benefits will not be available.
Understanding this distinction helps explain why passengers who normally purchase tickets without membership may be required to complete membership migration when booking holiday tickets.
Whether the same requirements apply to future holiday reservations must be confirmed through the separate booking announcement for each holiday period.
What Happens to Existing SRT Discount Coupons and Travel Records?
Unified membership migration is important if you want to use your existing SRT discount coupons and travel records through your unified membership account. SR separately announced procedures for transferring unused membership coupons during the integration process.
Eligible coupons that remained unused through August 25, 2026 were subject to transfer into unified membership accounts. The transferred coupons were scheduled to become available through the integrated service starting September 1.
Eligible services for transferred coupons include KTX and Saemaeul trains, among others, but exclude ITX-Cheongchun services.
Even if you have already completed unified membership migration, you should not assume that every coupon you previously held can be used under identical conditions. Check your actual account for available coupons, expiration dates, and eligible train services.

Following the transition of existing SRT routes to the integrated operating system, tickets for the affected trains operating from September onward are sold as KTX tickets.
Existing KorailTalk users can access Korail+ by updating their app. The integrated app is also available for installation through app stores.
Tickets purchased without membership can be retrieved using the ticket confirmation feature in the notification message sent through KakaoTalk, commonly called an AlimTalk notification in South Korea. Passengers should retain this message until they have completed their train journey.
To avoid confusing your former SRT account with your new integrated booking account, a convenient approach is to complete membership migration first, confirm that you can sign in to Korail+, and then search for train tickets.
If You Already Have a Korail Account, Do You Need to Register for SRT Separately?
Members who previously registered with both Korail and SRT do not need to create another Korail account. Instead, they can complete unified membership migration to link their SRT membership information to their existing Korail membership.
The key is to distinguish between creating a new account and linking existing accounts.
If you can already sign in to your Korail account, first check whether your SRT membership information has been migrated to the unified system. If you were registered only with SRT, you must complete the unified railway membership registration procedure.
Once migration is complete, sign in to Korail+ to check your train ticket booking options and available coupons.
