Registration Opens at 10 AM on November 3 for Incheon and Gyeonggi
Incheon and Gyeonggi are the first regions eligible for regular registration for the 81st Korean History Proficiency Test. Applications can be submitted from 10 AM on November 3 until 9 AM on November 4. Registration remains open until 9 AM the following day, even after the calendar date changes.
The important point is that registration closes at 9 AM on November 4. Assuming the deadline is 10 AM could result in logging in an hour too late.
Registration opens: Tuesday, November 3, at 10 AM
Registration closes: Wednesday, November 4, at 9 AM
Eligible regions: Incheon and Gyeonggi Province
Next registration window begins: November 4 at 10 AM
When Can Applicants in Other Regions Register?
Regular registration for the 81st examination is divided into time slots by city and province. After registration closes for Incheon and Gyeonggi, other regions become eligible in sequence. Finally, registration opens nationwide.
| Eligible registration regions | Registration opens | Registration closes |
|---|---|---|
| Incheon and Gyeonggi | November 3, 10 AM | November 4, 9 AM |
| Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong, South Jeolla, Gwangju, and North Jeolla | November 4, 10 AM | November 5, 9 AM |
| Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang, and North Gyeongsang | November 5, 10 AM | November 6, 9 AM |
| Nationwide | November 6, 1 PM | November 10, 5 PM |
There are periods when registration is unavailable between the regional application windows:
November 4, 9–10 AM
November 5, 9–10 AM
November 6, 9–10 AM
November 6, noon–1 PM
Therefore, after registration for Gyeonggi and Incheon closes at 9 AM on November 4, regular registration for other regions will also be unavailable until 10 AM.
Can You Apply During Nationwide Registration If You Miss Your Regional Window?
Yes. From 1 PM on November 6 until 5 PM on November 10, applicants from all regions can register. However, because this period follows the regional priority registration windows, applicants should check whether seats remain at their preferred examination centers.
Applicants in Gyeonggi and Incheon who fail to register by 9 AM on November 4 can still use the nationwide registration period. Missing the designated regional registration window does not automatically mean that all opportunities to apply have ended.
However, changing the selected city or province is not permitted during the registration period. It is therefore advisable to decide which region you actually intend to take the examination in before selecting an examination center.
When Can You Change Your Photo or Examination Center After Registering?
Separate periods are provided for updating your photograph and changing your examination center after registration.
Photo upload or modification: November 11, 10 AM, through November 28, 10 AM
Examination center changes: November 11, 10 AM, through November 20, 5 PM
The examination center change period ends before the photo modification period. If you need to change your examination center after registering, make sure to manage your schedule around the November 20 deadline at 5 PM.
If you want to change your examination center during the regional regular registration period, you must cancel your existing application and submit a new one. If you selected the wrong examination center during registration, check seat availability before deciding whether to change it.
If You Miss Regular Registration, You Can Also Check for Seats Released Through Cancellations
After regular registration ends, additional applications are accepted for seats that become available through cancellations or remain unfilled. For the 81st examination, the additional registration period for canceled seats runs from November 11 through November 13 and covers all regions.
However, the official information pages display different opening times for this registration period. The regional information on the main page lists 10 AM, while the schedule section lists 1 PM. Applicants should therefore check the official announcement again immediately before registration to confirm the correct opening time.
Registration for canceled seats is available only when seats have actually become available after regular registration. Therefore, it is better to apply during the regular registration period rather than waiting for canceled seats from the outset.
The 81st Examination Takes Place on November 28, with the Advanced Level Only
The 81st Korean History Proficiency Test will take place at 10 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2026. Only the advanced-level examination will be offered in this session. Anyone wishing to take the basic-level examination should check the schedule for another session.
After registering, keep track of the examination center change deadline and the admission ticket printing date separately. Admission tickets can be printed starting at 10 AM on November 24.
Applicants in Gyeonggi and Incheon should first access the registration system at 10 AM on November 3, submit their applications, and confirm that they have selected their preferred examination center and completed payment.
