Asiana Airlines ticket changes and ticket issuance may be unavailable for up to 23 hours if your itinerary includes a flight subject to reservation-data transfer. The restriction runs from 6:00 PM on the day before the transfer until 5:00 PM on the transfer date. Special meal requests and additional service requests or changes for passengers requiring assistance may be restricted for up to 47 hours, starting two days before the transfer. Not all flights are affected simultaneously, so passengers should check their departure dates and routes.

Why Are Asiana Airlines Booking Changes Suddenly Unavailable?

These temporary service restrictions are part of the flight-number changes and reservation-data migration associated with the integration of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.

Starting with flights departing on December 17, 2026, existing Asiana Airlines flight numbers beginning with OZ will change to Korean Air flight numbers beginning with KE. Reservation information for the affected tickets will also be transferred to Korean Air's system.

Importantly, passengers who have already purchased their tickets may also be affected. If even one flight in the complete itinerary is included in the transfer, restrictions may apply to reservation changes and new bookings.

Reservation Changes and Additional Services Have Different Suspension Periods

The suspension period depends on the type of service. Reservations and ticket issuance may be unavailable for up to 23 hours, while special meals and additional services for passengers requiring assistance may be restricted for up to 47 hours.

ServiceRestriction period
New flight reservations6:00 PM on the day before transfer to 5:00 PM on the transfer date
Changes to existing reservations6:00 PM on the day before transfer to 5:00 PM on the transfer date
New advance seat reservations and changesTemporarily suspended during the transfer process
Special meal requests and changes6:00 PM two days before transfer to 5:00 PM on the transfer date
Service requests and changes for passengers requiring assistance6:00 PM two days before transfer to 5:00 PM on the transfer date

All times are based on Korea Standard Time (KST).

For example, if the transfer date is November 9, the restrictions will be as follows:

Reservation and ticketing restrictions: November 8, 6:00 PM to November 9, 5:00 PM

Special meal and additional service restrictions: November 7, 6:00 PM to November 9, 5:00 PM

Based on the author's calculation, the reservation and ticketing restriction lasts 23 hours, while the additional service restriction lasts 47 hours.

Advance seat reservations and changes are also subject to suspension. However, the official service-specific notice does not clearly identify a separate suspension period for seat selection. Therefore, it is better not to automatically classify this service under either the 23-hour or the 47-hour restriction.

How to Check Whether Your Ticket Is Subject to Transfer

The first things to check are your actual departure date and the flights included in your itinerary, rather than the date you purchased your ticket.

Follow these steps:

1. Open your reservation details on the Asiana Airlines website or app.

2. Check your ticket's departure date and your complete itinerary.

3. Check whether your itinerary includes an Asiana Airlines flight departing on or after December 17, 2026.

4. For international flights, check whether your departure date falls within the travel period assigned to the relevant transfer stage.

5. For domestic flights, determine whether your ticket belongs to the November 9 or November 16 transfer group.

6. If you need to change your reservation, select seats, or request a special meal, complete the necessary arrangements before the relevant service suspension begins.

Pay particular attention to round-trip tickets and connecting itineraries. Checking only one flight segment is not sufficient. The relevant factor in determining whether reservation and ticketing services will be restricted is whether any flight in your complete itinerary is included in the transfer.

Where Should You Contact for Reservation Changes After the Transfer?

Once the reservation-data transfer is complete, the airline responsible for handling ticket changes or refunds depends on when you make your inquiry.

Through December 16, 2026: Asiana Airlines or the original booking provider.

Starting December 17, 2026: Korean Air or the booking provider.

The Asiana Airlines reservation center can be reached at 1588-8000.

If you purchased your ticket through a travel agency or flight comparison website, you should also contact the original booking provider. The appropriate channel for changes and refunds may depend on where you purchased the ticket.

If your flight number changes from OZ to KE, it is also advisable to confirm whether your existing reservation can still be changed and to check the updated flight information.

What Should You Do Before Making a Reservation Change?

The most important point to remember is that the deadlines for reservation changes and additional services are different.

If you plan to change your ticket date or itinerary, it is advisable to complete the change before 6:00 PM on the day before the transfer. If you need a special meal, pet travel arrangements, or services for pregnant passengers or passengers who have difficulty getting around, check and submit your requests before 6:00 PM two days before the transfer.

Even if you have already selected a seat, new seat selections and changes may be restricted during the transfer process. It is therefore advisable to check your existing seat information and updated ticket details.

If the reservation-change page is not working, do not automatically assume that something is wrong with your ticket. First, check whether your flight is included in the transfer scheduled for that date.
